We are pleased to be hosting a Technical Forum in Windhoek, Namibia on Monday 24 April 2023.

The free forum is for OSRL, industry and the government to engage, network, and understand more about oil spill response preparedness in Namibia.

The forum is specifically for OSRL members, government and other key oil and gas stakeholders, such as those involved in oil spill response and preparedness at strategic and tactical levels. i.e. Emergency Response Advisors, Crisis Managers, HSE Managers and Directors, Operations Managers, Maritime Co-ordinators, Oil Spill Technicians and Advisors, Emergency Managers, Environmental Advisors etc.

There will be four main sessions including;

Governance, good practice and planning –  a journey of international governance and good practice to a finalised Oil Spill Contingency Plan, also including an overview of the Tiered Preparedness and Response (TPR) wheel for marine and inland operations.

Surveillance options in Namibia – aerial surveillance options available during a spill response in Namibia. This includes an overview of the OSRL West African Surveillance Platform (WASP).

The use of dispersants in oil spill response - an overview of dispersant use in spill response explaining what dispersant is, how it works and why we use dispersant. It touches on the approval process and how writing a ‘dispersant justification document’ during a spill can demonstrate the need to spray dispersant from a safety and/or environmental perspective.

Oil spill response case studies - recent case studies of oil spill responses, highlighting the successes and challenges and lessons learned.
