OSRL Welcomes Brett Morry, Leading Expert in Offshore Operations and Source Control

Wednesday, July 12, 2023

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Brett Morry as a key addition to our subsea team. With over three decades of comprehensive experience in offshore construction, fabrication, engineering, and project management, Mr. Morry brings a wealth of expertise to further enhance OSRL's capabilities in source control and subsea well response.

Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Morry has demonstrated an exceptional track record in various aspects of offshore operations, with a particular focus on fabrication, field development, subsea tieback, remotely operated vehicles (ROV), survey-related tasks, and deepwater construction requirements. His experience encompasses both onshore and offshore projects, providing him with a well-rounded perspective on the industry.

Notably, Mr. Morry played a crucial role in the Post Macondo era, where he gained invaluable expertise in source control. He was actively involved in all facets of subsea well response globally, including direct participation in Macondo. His contributions ranged from hardware fabrication for ongoing response efforts to source control education, training, and exercise facilitation.

Mr. Morry's outstanding contributions have been recognised through his co-authorship of several Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) papers, specifically focusing on subsea well response. Furthermore, his dedication to innovation is evidenced by his patent-holder status for various hardware and processes developed exclusively for source control response initiatives.

As an engaged member of the Source Control Branch of the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP), Mr. Morry has been instrumental in shaping industry best practices. He played an integral role in the development of the IOGP 594 report, a significant reference document for source control planning and preparedness. Additionally, Mr. Morry has been actively involved as an American Petroleum Institute (API) contributing member responsible for Recommended Practice 17W – Subsea Capping Stacks.

Speaking on behalf of OSRL, Andy Myers, Response Director, expressed excitement about Brett Morry joining the team, stating, "We are delighted to welcome Mr. Morry to OSRL. His extensive knowledge and experience significantly enhances our existing global subsea well response organisation. With his diverse skill set and notable contributions in the source control field, we are confident that Mr. Morry will play a pivotal role in advancing our company mission to safeguard the environment."

Mr. Brett Morry's appointment reaffirms OSRL's commitment to continuously enhance its capabilities and ensure the highest level of expertise within the organisation.
