Shape the Future of Shipping and New Fuels: Join us as a New Fuels Business Development Executive and Drive OSRL's Growth in APAC!

 

Purpose of the role:

To drive the growth of OSRL's influence and reputation in the shipping and new fuels sector, we're seeking individual to contribute to the development and execution of strategic plans. This role will play a crucial part in expanding membership, increasing preparedness income, and generating requests for response services, with a primary focus on the APAC region. As a New Fuels Business Development Executive, you'll not only support global initiatives but also take the lead in seizing opportunities within APAC, shaping the future of our organisation in this dynamic industry.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop business opportunities for OSRL’s preparedness services within the marine/ shipping sector to achieve agreed budgets and targets as well as developing and evaluating new preparedness solutions.
  • Cultivate new membership and supplementary service opportunities within the marine/ shipping sector to achieve agreed budgets and targets.
  • Engage with the Shipping, Salvage, Maritime Industry and organisations producing, transporting and distributing new and transition fuels to promote the value of OSRL’s preparedness and response services, distinguishing us from our competitors and validating our best-in-class reputation. 
  • Nurture our existing shipping members developing strong relationships and help solve their emergency preparedness and response needs through existing or new OSRL services and/or working in partnership with other specialist providers.
  • Develop and nurture new and existing regional APAC relationships, promoting key messaging and benefits of response good practice in the context of shipping, salvage and wreck removal.

 

Planning:

  • Responsible for contributing to the annual business development plan and income budget for the Shipping and New Fuels business segment, inclusive of strategic objectives and targets for growth and delivering APAC regional aspects of the plan.

 

Account management and engagement:

  • Accountable for developing and implementing account management plans for regional OSRL Shipping members with the primary aims of;
    • Retaining existing members and subscribers to supplementary services
    • Selling commercially viable preparedness solutions
    • Promoting industry good practice and key messages
    • Understanding the members current and future needs and positioning OSRL to provide solutions to their preparedness and response gaps.
  • Responsible for developing engagement plans for potential new customers of OSRL’s response and preparedness services
  • Responsible for contributing to the global shipping engagement plans and development of regional plans, and consulting with regional industry partners and stakeholders to remain informed of research and development activities i.e. ultra-low sulphur fuel oils, transition and new fuels, HNS response and keep relevant stakeholders informed of key findings.
  • Responsible for promoting OSRL’s capability and technical excellence and expertise to the industry segment and in collaboration with Marketing, develop regional sector specific marketing, communications plans and content.

 

Business Development and Sales:

  • Responsible for ensuring long-term growth and agreed financial targets are exceeded or are achieved
  • Responsible for identifying new business opportunities and sector specific services (regional, response and preparedness
    •  Ensure sales targets are achieved to deliver income for assigned accounts/ countries/ regions
    • Initiate contact with prospective clients through cold calls, emails, and networking.
    • Qualify leads and set up meetings.
    • Collaborate with team members to prepare high-quality, commercially profitable, and contractually sound proposals and supporting presentations.
    • Negotiate to achieve viable solutions
    • Work within OSRL’s procedures (e.g. Financial Authority Matrix) to ensure compliancy for contractual terms and conditions, contract negotiation and costing / pricing.
    • Maintain accurate records of leads and client interactions in OSRL’s CRM system.
  • Responsible for identifying and qualifying potential partners, contractors and collaborators for the delivery of sector specific preparedness and response services where there is value or need for OSRL to work with other organisations to achieve the desired services/ deliverables.

 

 Communications:

  • Supporting the Shipping and New Fuels Manager in developing and disseminating internal communications keeping stakeholders informed with regular data and progress reports.
  • Support industry segment market research and the development of current and future predictions on industry segment activity, based on sound data and analysis.

 

 Other:

  • In line with OSRL values, ensure all operational activities are carried out within statutory and company requirements and with due regard to the health & safety of themselves, others around them and for the environment.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years' experience in business development, preferably in shipping or energy.
  • Familiarity with the new fuels industry and a comprehensive understanding of shipping regulations and trends.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, economics, or a related field.
