Edgar Gerasmia

Senior Trainer

Edgar has a background in Mechanical Engineering holding an undergraduate degree. He is currently a Senior Trainer and a Senior Oil Spill Response Specialist based in Singapore, providing emergency preparedness and response readiness services globally.

Edgar joined OSRL in mid-2007 as a Response Specialist based in Bahrain and is instrumental in the upkeep and maintenance of the base. His role included training local contractors, maintaining/commissioning of existing and new response equipment, logistics, and purchasing.

In 2010, Edgar joined the Singapore Operations and then moved to Training in 2013. As a Trainer, he delivered IMO Model courses, Inland, SCAT, Aerial Surveillance, ICS/IMS, Oil Spill Masterclass, and Oil Spill Awareness courses. These projects brought him to other countries in the Asia and Pacific region, such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, India, Papua New Guinea, Australia, New Zealand, Turkmenistan, Bahrain, Myanmar, and Pakistan.

Since joining the company, Edgar has been involved in spill activations and responses in the UK, Middle East, and Asia Pacific regions in different capacities. The most notable deployment was being a member of the SCAT team during the 2010 incident of the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico.
