Equipment Maintenance Technician

Location: UK / Southampton

Oil Spill Response Ltd is seeking an Equipment Maintenance Technician to join the Maintenance Department at our Southampton Base.

The Maintenance Department provides equipment hire, training and maintenance for our members on a global basis. 

 

Job Description:

The purpose of the Equipment Maintenance Technician is to conduct the maintenance of Oil Spill Response equipment, ensuring it is ready for immediate response deployment.  

Main Accountabilities:

  • Ensure that all activities are carried out in line with company policies and procedures including Life Saving Rules, risk assessment and permit to work.
  • Undertake the efficient maintenance and rehabilitation of equipment and vessels to the highest standards and in compliance with safety / regulatory requirements.
  • To provide safe, prompt and efficient on-site support to spill incidents, exercises and preparedness projects as required.
  • Proactively develop and maintain appropriate knowledge and skills to aid effective performance in the role. 
  • Provide a source of expertise to other departments and assist them as directed by the Maintenance Team Supervisor. 
  • Provide input into the ongoing technical development of spill response equipment, strategies and techniques through internal technical forums, working groups and practical experience.
  • Participate in updating operational guidelines and maintenance procedures for new and existing equipment to ensure safe and effective operation.    
  • This position requires you to live within one hour of your home base.

 

Requirements:

The successful candidate for this role will have experience in a technician role and will have ideally completed technical/engineering qualifications to include hydraulic systems and internal combustion engines.  Fabrication and/or welding is an advantage, and a forklift licence is preferable.

  • Knowledge and understanding of maintenance procedures, equipment rehabilitation and repair
  • Industry standards and local regulations
  • Detailed knowledge of maintenance and diagnostics on ICEs and hydraulic systems
  • Understanding of different cultures

Technical/Work-based Skills

  • Excellent skill of hand and maintenance experience
  • IT literate (to a good standard)
  • Excellent written and verbal English language
  • In depth knowledge of equipment maintenance procedures and rehabilitation
  • Risk Management

Oil Spill Response Ltd seeking a Business Development Advisor to join our Commercial Department to support the Business Development Team.

On a global basis, the Business Development Team provides Client’s with Proposal’s providing services and tasks covering surface and subsea response and preparedness. These services include:

  • Secondees, short and long term, to take responsibility for oil spill issues from your company, enabling you to use your resources for your area of expertise
  • Crisis management services for all incident types
  • Training both for company employees and subcontractors/suppliers where required
  • Internal coordination between departments and external liaison with authorities
  • In-field support for critical/higher-risk operations
  • Produce, update or advise on contingency plans
  • Undertake capability assessments of sites/operations
  • In-field equipment hire, including maintenance and training

Job Description:

The Business Development Advisor will provide support to Business Development Executives, producing proposals and quick quotes which maximise OSRL’s preparedness revenue generation 

Working with internal departments and suppliers / partners, the Business Development Advisor, to ensure resources are in place to deliver against proposals. 

Main Accountabilities

  • Produce proposals by liaising  with both the customers (if applicable) and the wider proposal team to ensure the proposal is delivered in a timely manner. 
  • Ensure proposals are commercially viable and comply with OSRL policies and guidelines 
  • In conjunction with the Global Proposals Manager and Senior Members of the team, help to gather information required to prepare and present high-quality proposals.  
  • Engaging with customers (internal and external) to gather feedback on the content, structure and presentation of proposals. Identifying areas for improvement in the preparation and presentation of proposals and leading the implementation of the changes required to achieve these improvements. 
  • Carry out other tasks and projects as defined by management. 

 

Requirements:

The successful candidate for this role will be proficient with Microsoft packages, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. You will have excellent planning and organisational skills with a high level of attention to detail. You will have previous experience in delivering high-quality results in a timely and efficient manner.  

This role is suited to someone who enjoys the business development environment, working with people at all levels, and takes pride in providing a high standard of administrative work.

Environmental Monitoring Services Lead

Location: Perth, Western Australia

Position Title: Operational & Scientific Monitoring (OSM) Services Lead (Environmental Monitoring Services Lead)  

About the role

As the OSM Services Lead, you will be responsible for the delivery of Environmental (Operational & Scientific) Monitoring services in the event of oil spill incidents for our members, which will involve key Oil & Gas operators in Australia. Working closely with OSRL’s Australia Country Manager, Global & Regional Response Teams and wider technical experts, you will be responsible for ensuring that the OSM services continue to meet the regulatory requirements and our member expectations. The key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage the delivery of environmental monitoring services for oil spill incidents.
  • Establish and manage project processes for monitoring services to comply with applicable regulatory, contractual, and OSRL requirements.
  • Lead the stakeholder engagement for monitoring services including the project Steering Committee, project members, monitoring service providers, and regulatory stakeholders including national, state and territorial agencies.
  • Contract management of all monitoring service providers.
  • Establish and implement Annual Assurance Program for monitoring services.
  • Manage the design, development and delivery of monitoring related trainings and exercises for members.
  • Responsible for the management of Document Management System (DMS) for monitoring services and HSE policies and procedures.
  • Provide support to members Incident Management Team during response mobilization and activation.

This fantastic opportunity is suited for someone with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental or Marine Sciences (or similar).
  • Relevant project experience, particularly related to environmental monitoring, impact assessment, management, and regulatory compliance. Ideally 7+ years’ experience.
  • Good understanding of Australian Oil Spill Regulatory Framework and Operational & Scientific Monitoring Requirements for oil spills.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully executing mid-large scale consultancy projects, both as an individual and as part of or leading a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels in both technical and non-technical environments.
  • An ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with a range of stakeholders including clients, government agencies and councils.

Job Description:

The primary function is to lead and direct the maintenance team to ensure that response equipment is maintained to a high standard for immediate response deployment.

 

Main Accountabilities:

  • Ensure Company policies and procedures are always followed in line with OSRL’s Life Saving Rules.
  • Stay current with associated computer operating platforms. (MAXIMO / Safety Organiser, etc)
  • Ensure maintenance, recertification and testing tasks are managed efficiently and to ensure minimum downtime of any part of the equipment inventory.
  • Ensure that response equipment is maintained in a high state of readiness, and properly packaged for transport and deployment. This includes the periodic operation of all mechanical equipment, routine service/maintenance and repairs as needed to ensure equipment readiness and operability.
  • Assist in the familiarization training of Member personnel on the operation and maintenance of the response equipment. This includes the preparation of static displays of equipment at the OSR warehouse, preparation, load and transport equipment to/from field training sites and provide field instruction on the operation and maintenance of OSR equipment.
  • Assist with loading and transporting response equipment for use in a spill response or drill including accompany equipment to point of departure.
  • Provide support where needed for facilities maintenance as directed by line manager and/or regional safety representative.

Requirements:

  • Applicants  must have the right to live and work in the USA and have documentation to complete USA I-9 Employment Authorization form.
  • A strong maintenance related background with experience of  internal combustion engines (diesel/gas) pumps and hydraulics.
  • Knowledge of Oil & Gas industry technology and standards.
  • Track record of working on and delivering maintenance programs.
  • Experience of implementing engineering practices and standards ensuring engineering systems and technology development is aligned with company goals and standards.
  • Proven experience of leadership of engineering activities.
  • Operational planning experience.
  • Qualifications in engineering maintenance or relevant industry experience.
  • International experience in multi-cultural, multi-disciplined team environments.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work on own.
