OSRL Membership Options

There are three main membership options to join OSRL; Participant, Associate or Shipping Associate membership, each gives you ready access to response services 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year, no matter where and when you need us.  

OSRL Member Response services include access to the Duty Manager at any time, logistics support with OSRL's own aircraft to transport equipment or access to chartered aircraft through established contracts, a stockpile of dedicated oil recovery equipment and dispersants, wide-area high-volume aerial dispersant spraying capability and a pool of expertise with a broad and in-depth range of skills, amongst other Member response services.

Participant Membership

Participant membership provides a company with global access to the full range of oil spill response and preparedness services.  It is available only to qualifying international oil companies.  Participant members become shareholders in OSRL pay a one-off entry fee, an annual subscription and share in the growth and benefits of the company; as well as participating in determining the strategic direction of the company.

  • National oil companies with significant volumes of production.

  • All operations worldwide.

  • Total worldwide oil production and 50% refinery capacity.

Any oil company with regional and international operations can apply for OSRL membership to gain quicker and easier access to our services at lower rates. Depending on your company's characteristics and required coverage, you can join us as a participant or associate member.

Associate Membership

Associate membership is available to companies that have a specific operational requirement for defined sites. Associate Membership provides the same response capability as Participant membership.

Company Characteristics

  • Companies with a limited number of operations.

  • Joint venture activities.

  • Applies to drilling, production operations, refineries, pipelines, ports and harbours.

Coverage

  • Site specific.

Annual fee based on

  • Total exposure (volume of oil produced and/or handled per day across all sites) '000 bbl per day:

    • 0-40
    • 41-80
    • 81-120
    • 121-160

  • Number of sites covered:

    • 1
    • 2-5
    • 6-10
    • >10

Shipping Associate Membership

Shipping Associate membership is available to shipping companies, whether globally or regionally (except USA waters).

This membership package provides the shipping industry with enhanced access to world-class advisory support and a dedicated physical response capability. It significantly reduces the complexity of managing an incident and coordinating remediation efforts, wherever it happens. It removes many of the challenges shipping companies face in the event of an incident.

  • Owned or chartered vessels

Membership Subscription 

  • Priced on a per-vessel basis for tank vessels and non-tank vessels
  • No initial joining fee
  • No limit on the number of vessels
  • Fees are capped at 50 vessels per vessel category
