Mobilisation Methods

Here you can find out how the Capping Stack Systems (CSS) and Subsea Incident Response Toolkits (SIRT) can be transported - by road, sea or air.

OSRL will work in tandem with the Incident Owner to ensure an efficient and effective response is delivered in proportion to the incident. The response will be coordinated by the OSRL Incident Manager through the Emergency Operations Centre.

The full SWIS suite can be transported by road, sea or air. All four Capping Stacks will be stored in a built, deployable state whilst the two SIRT will be containerised and ready for deployment.

In the event that a Capping Stack is required to be transported by air the manufacturer will be required to disassemble the stack and load into shipping containers.
The preferred and most efficient method of transporting the Capping Stack System is by sea.

Capping Stack System Subsea Incident Response Toolkit Requirements

By Road

By road.jpg

13 x 20ft containers and up to 15 skids
  • 5 x 20ft containers
  • 2 x 10ft containers
  • 4 x HFL racks (5.5 x2.2 x 2.4 m)
  • 4 x subsea accumulators (1.9 x 1.5 x 3.3 m)
  • 1 x spreader bar (3 x 1.9 x 0.5 m)
The full SWIS suite can be containerised for road transportation. This is conducted using standard prime-movers and ISO compatible 40ft trailers.

By Sea

  • Requires deck space for: the base dimensions of 5.9 x 6.1 m
  • Total weight (including test stand) is approximately 148 metric tonnes for the 15k PSI CSS
  • This configuration includes H4 connector and frame but no spacer spool
Requires deck space for:
  • 5 x 20ft containers
  • 2 x 10ft containers
  • 4 x HFL racks (5.5 x2.2 x 2.4 m)
  • 4 x subsea accumulators (1.9 x 1.5 x 3.3 m)
  • 1 x spreader bar (3 x 1.9 x 0.5 m)
During vessel selection the following factors should be considered:
  • DP Class
  • Draft
  • Crane Capacity
  • Cargo Deck Capacity
  • Trading Restrictions (Cabotage laws, charter restrictions, class restrictions)
