OSRL's dedicated subsea division, SWIS, provides our Members with the opportunity to access response ready, subsea well intervention equipment which complements the Tier 3 response our membership provides.
Following the Macondo incident in the Gulf of Mexico, and as an outcome of the Global Industry Response Group (GIRG), the Subsea Well Response Project (SWRP) was created in 2011. This consortium of nine leading upstream companies designed and developed advanced capping, dispersant and containment equipment that can now be deployed worldwide.
Due to its extensive experience in providing oil spill response services around the world, Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL) was identified as the right company to make this equipment available to industry. Working with SWRP, we developed several international base locations and the equipment is now available for use in the event of a subsea well incident through our Subsea Well Intervention Services.
Designed for a variety of conditions, SWIS aims to enhance the industry's ability to prepare for, and respond to, a subsea well control incident wherever it occurs. The equipment and dispersant are strategically stored and maintained in locations worldwide, for swift international deployment.
