Better understand your Oil Pollution Emergency Plan (OPEP) and the wide array of issues that are associated with an initial oil spill response.

This course outlines the crucial decisions, considerations and actions that Offshore Installation Managers (OIMs) will need to undertake in the first 100+ minutes of an oil spill incident.

Built around a typical Oil Pollution Emergency Plan (OPEP) covering critical decisions and actions, this scenario-based course is highly interactive, immersing you in an actual setting of the early stages of an oil spill, mirroring aspects of your own OPEP.

It is highly customised taking consideration of not only the Australian National Contingency Plan, but the requirements by Australian regulatory bodies such as NOPSEMA (National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority) and AMSA (Australian Maritime Safety Authority).

It is a legal requirement that oil and gas entities operating in the Australian Exclusive Economic Zone have trained responders at all levels who can act swiftly and effectively in the event of a release of oil from your installation.

This course been designed specifically for:

  • Offshore Installation Managers (OIM’s)
  • Offshore On-Scene Commanders
  • Offshore personnel in key emergency response roles

This course will give you the knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

  • International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL)
  • International Convention on Oil Pollution Preparedness, Response and Co-operation (OPRC)
  • Potential sources of oil spills
