Pre-deployment Activity

This page summarises the activity that is needed prior to deployment by air or by sea. For shipping by air, the cap needs to be dismantled and then reassembled on arrival.

If the Capping Stack System (CSS) or Subsea Incident Response Toolkit (SIRT) are required, OSRL will ensure that the systems are transported to the sea port or airport as requested by the Incident Owner,
The equipment will be:

  • Assembled for transport by sea, or
  • Dismantled into shipping format for transport by road/air.

  • Prepare all equipment for mobilisation
  • Transport equipment to the quayside
By Air
  • Mobilise TEI personnel from Houston
  • Capping Stack dismantled and containerised
  • Equipment transported to airport
  • Equipment received at departure airport
  • Equipment flown to airport nearest to the incident location
  • Unload equipment
  • Assemble and test Capping Stack
  • Transport equipment to quayside
