ATSEA-2 and OSRL held a Regional Exchange Event in Singapore and the third webinar in the series for 2022. The webinar covered NEBA/SIMA and looked at a case study of a crude palm oil spill in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Find out more about quarter three activities. 

The recent return to overseas training flights provided some local enthusiasts an opportunity to view the aircraft with the 2Excel crew; Flying in Ireland has published an article from the visit, written by author Gabriel Desmond.

Over the last two months, a total of 280 African penguins have been cared for at the OSRL GDS warehouse. The SANCCOB team are now wrapped up their response, so the base is back to its regular operational duties.

Whilst the world did not stop in 2020 and 2021, it slowed down dramatically with the effects felt across both cargo and personnel travel logistics. The combination of Brexit, Covid-19 supply chain impact, repercussions of the Suez Canal blockage, global HGV driver shortage, and the travel restrictions and ever-changing Covid-19 testing and quarantine requirements meant that we as a Global Logistics Team, are facing an unprecedented combination of events that directly affected our ability to perform our jobs. 

An update from the Global Logistics Lead Ho Yei Ling on the Global Logistics team and a successful test of new Brexit procedures. 

We also hear from the Travel Team on how they were focussing on new processes and procedures to keep our travellers safe during the global pandemic.

After receiving a request for assistance from GOWRS and Seabird rescue specialist SANCCOB, OSRL staff at our South Africa base helped support ongoing efforts to care for nearly 2,000 Cape cormorant chicks.

Here, Shamen Bunsee, Response Specialist recounts his experience of helping with the rescue effort and his new-found appreciation for all the work that goes into wildlife response and for SANCCOB's team.
