Is virtual remote training the future?

For the first time, OSRL delivered a full virtual customised ICS refresher course, complete with mini exercises with Exxon Neftegas Limited (ENL).

“This way of doing the training is rather flexible, and we find it very useful when we need to run refreshers for the small groups. I believe such type of trainings are helpful and effective.” – Denis Samartsev, ENL

ICS training has long been perceived as a theoretically intensive subject requiring substantial training days. As the attendees from ENL had attended OSRL's full ICS training before, we delivered the refresher course by breaking it down into four 90-minute Skype sessions. This flexibility drew a larger attendance; the use of e-flipchart and live discussions kept the attendees fully engaged and interested.

As ICS training gains more traction and importance in the industry, this first successful trial opens up a new flexible and cost-effective training option for ICS refresher courses.

We are excited with the positive feedback received and welcome enquiries from the industry on how we can extend the same medium of delivery to address their ICS training needs, especially for staff who are located remotely and used to virtual technology.

“All personnel who attended the training this time liked it so much. This was the first time when you did the training for us remotely using Skype which worked very well, and we are looking forward to invite you more often.” – Boris Petrovskiy, ENL
