Herders – what are they and how are OSRL looking into their use?

We have been looking into herder technology, and how it could be added to the future OSRL response ‘toolbox’ for a while now so this article will explain what they are and the work we have been carrying out.

We're inviting our members and contacts from around the industry to explore wildlife response during our dedicated Wildlife Week. 

Wildlife Week aims to promote wildlife preparedness and response good practise and look at how this has been applied regionally across the globe.

Oil Spill Response (OSRL) will showcase the connection between renewable energy and oil/gas at Energy Taiwan 2023, addressing spill risks in offshore wind energy. OSRL will aid the industry in preparedness, risk identification, and knowledge-sharing. With global climate concerns, this event emphasizes the shift to low-carbon energy sources, offering a platform for sustainable solutions.

Following on from our news article back in March this year, detailing our involvement in supporting students from the University of Southampton to conduct a plastic recovery training exercise, the students have now completed their Mechanical Engineering Research project. As we welcome G-OSRB, back to the UK from Djibouti, we are excited to announce that the aircraft will be stationed at its new operational base, London Southend Airport (LSA), alongside G-OSRA. 

We would like to advise our members that OSRL has mobilised its Boeing 727 G-OSRB to Djibouti to hold standby for the FSO Safer.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Brett Morry as a key addition to our subsea team. With over three decades of comprehensive experience in offshore construction, fabrication, engineering, and project management, Mr. Morry brings a wealth of expertise to further enhance OSRL's capabilities in source control and subsea well response. 

We are pleased to announce the implementation of a new and dynamic Executive Team structure that will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of Oil Spill Response. This restructuring initiative reflects our commitment to adapt to evolving market conditions and position ourselves as leaders in the industry.

We are pleased to announce that the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has joined Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL) as our newest Associate member.
