Maintenance - CSS and SIRT

The equipment is maintained and stored in a 'response-ready' state, capable of being shipped with little or no prior notice.

Capping Stacks Systems (CSS)

Maintenance is carried out quarterly to ensure Capping Stack condition and function is retained to the highest standard.
It is carried out at each OSRL location (Brazil, Norway, Singapore and South Africa) by Trendsetter personnel to pre-defined routines set out in procedures (available to members on the documentation site).

Every 3 and 9 months: Function testing of valves, chokes, BOP and connectors is carried out.
Every 6 and 12 months: Pressure integrity testing to the Capping Stack working pressure – 10k PSI and 15k PSI respectively.
Maintenance is scheduled to ensure a 10k PSI and 15k PSI Capping Stack System is always in a response-ready condition.

Subsea Incident Response Toolkits (SIRT)

Maintenance is carried out on a 6 monthly basis to ensure the SIRT condition and function is retained to the highest standard.

It is carried out by Oceaneering at facilities in Macae Brazil and in Stavanger Norway to pre-defined routines set out in procedures (available to members on the documentation site).

Every 6 months:

  • Cleaning
  • Visual inspection
  • Pressure testing

Every 12 months:

  • Cleaning
  • Visual inspection
  • Lubrication
  • Function testing
  • Pressure testing

Maintenance is scheduled so that there will always be an operational package available in the event of an emergency.

Lifting Gear (Cap and Tookits)
Lifting gear will be inspected every 6 months, thus ensuring that equipment will have 6 months redundancy when offshore and in use. (In South Africa lifting gear will be inspected every 3 months.)
