Logistics Planning Guides

Are you aware that there are vast amounts of resources available related to the logistics of OSRL equipment?

In an emergency, it is important to move equipment in the fastest and most trouble-free way as possible. To achieve this, high priority must be placed on logistics pre-planning.

OSRL recognises the benefits of having our members informed on the logistics steps and requirements when mobilising our equipment. This information can be found in our Logistics Planning Guides (LPGs).

Designed to be simple to use, the purpose of these guides is to aid the planning and understanding of the processes for the mobilisation and initial deployment phases of the spill response equipment.

LPGs cover:

             Equipment storage locations

Storage media (containers and types etc)

             Weights and dimensions

Potential transport configuration requirements (air, road and sea)

             Documentation requirements

             Contact details

             Line of responsibility

Equipment configurations, lift requirements and estimated response timelines (Subsea LPGs)

LPGs are a baseline to start developing site specific Logistics Execution Plans (LEP), which OSRL have expertise and experience in writing for our members.

Stay tuned for more information on our LEP consultancy service!

As OSRL provides a wide array of resources, there are multiple guides to cover different equipment packages and service agreements. Our resources range in size and type (smaller surface oil recovery equipment to large subsea source control hardware) and can be transported by a range of options (sea, road and air). In some cases, chartered heavy lift aircraft will be required. Some equipment may require re-supply in the field, such as dispersants or equipment spares, which will need to be considered.  For our associate and participant members, you may be interested in the logistics of our Service Level Agreement (SLA) equipment stockpile.

In addition to the LPG that covers our core Service Level Agreement equipment, we have logistics planning guides for our Global Dispersant Stockpile (GDS) along with our Subsea Well Intervention Services (SWIS) which includes Capping Stack Systems (CSS), Subsea Incident Response Toolkit (SIRT), Containment Equipment and the Offset Installation Equipment (OIE).

Of course, our Global Logistics Team is ready to answer any enquiries you may have on the logistics of our equipment. To learn more about these guides, and logistics consultancy services we offer, you can contact us at GlobalLogistics@oilspillresponse.com
