Offliner Diaries: Week one; Introduction and Fundamentals

The Offliners course for the new UK Responders began in March, over the next 12 weeks, these new responders will be immersed in tactical and practical training to prepare them for responding to oil spills globally.
Week one saw the new Responders learning about the Oil and Gas industry and the role of OSRL.

OSRL Penguin Quarantine Comes to a Close

Over the last two months, a total of 280 African penguins have been cared for at the OSRL GDS warehouse. The SANCCOB team are now wrapped up their response, so the base is back to its regular operational duties.

Whilst the world did not stop in 2020 and 2021, it slowed down dramatically with the effects felt across both cargo and personnel travel logistics. The combination of Brexit, Covid-19 supply chain impact, repercussions of the Suez Canal blockage, global HGV driver shortage, and the travel restrictions and ever-changing Covid-19 testing and quarantine requirements meant that we as a Global Logistics Team, are facing an unprecedented combination of events that directly affected our ability to perform our jobs.

A Bird's eye view of seabird rescue at SANCCOB

After receiving a request for assistance from GOWRS and Seabird rescue specialist SANCCOB, OSRL staff at our South Africa base helped support ongoing efforts to care for nearly 2,000 Cape cormorant chicks.
