IMS 200 Basic Incident Management System for Initial Response

This online, self-paced course helps you build on your previous Incident Management System (IMS) training, aimed at expanding on the core principles and concepts for higher-level IMS training.

This course provides deeper awareness for any individual who would perform a support role during a response.

The course expands on the core IMS features, principles and organisational structure. It delves into command of a small incident, management by objectives and the flexibility of its structure as it expands and contracts for all different emergency types.

 

Completion of the IMS 100 is required as a prerequisite for this course and for continued IMS Training Courses. For extra resources during the course, please refer to our Incident Management Handbook.

Is This Course Right For Me?

If your role requires you to work within emergency management, response or planning, this course will give you the additional knowledge to prepare you to assume a supervisory role within an Incident Management System (IMS) framework. 

What Will I Learn On This Course?

This course will expand on the basics from your IMS 100 course, giving you an understanding of the leadership and management of the system by objectives.

At the end of this course, you will be aware of the functional areas and staffing positions within IMS, be introduced to the concept of briefings, and span of control, and be able to assume supervisory roles within an incident management team for simple incidents, whilst understanding the transfer of command.
