ICOPCE - 22nd - 24th April 2009

This event was officially opened on 22nd April by Mrs Lim Hwee Hua, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister for Finance and Transport. Attended by government and industry representatives from the region and even the Middle East, ICOPCE provided a useful platform for discussing challenges in the safe transportation of oil, chemicals and petrochemicals.

The conference segment saw Operations Director Dave Salt's participation as a panel speaker on the subject of Partnerships and Cooperation for Improving Industry Preparedness and Response to Oil Spills. Dave elaborated on how the type of response strategy, speed of decision making, amount of resources deployed and effectiveness of response management could have a heavy impact on the overall cost of an oil spill. It was worth noting that the size of an oil spill is not the key determinant of cost as small oil spills can lead to serious consequences as well.

In addition to setting up a booth to respond to delegate enquiries, we also sponsored a business lunch for ICOPCE delegates to network.

A team of 10 responders also took part in ChemSpill 2009, a deployment exercise conducted under ICOPCE that tested Singapore's response readiness.

Sea Asia 2009 - 21st - 23rd April 2009

This year marks the second time Oil Spill Response has participated in Sea Asia. Setting up a booth at this event created inroads for us to make direct contact with the shipping and maritime industries and introduce our services to them.
