Adriana Handszer

Adriana is a Senior Consultant within OSRL based in Houston and is responsible for the development and management of oil spill preparedness projects in the Americas and other regions. She has developed and delivered numerous projects including developing and implementation of contingency plans, capability reviews and exercises for Upstream and Downstream Oil and Gas Operations and Major Capital Projects, working closely with governmental agencies. She has also been involved in delivering training courses like IMO and IMS.

Prior to assuming her current role, she held multiple positions in HSE for a major Operating Company, where she gained experience in Risk Management, Compliance Assurance, HSE Management Systems and Environmental Remediation.

Adriana is bilingual English-Spanish, holds a bachelor’s degree in Geology and a master's degree in Environmental management.

Amy Whitehouse

Amy joined the Training and Consultancy team in September 2023, after relocating from Devon. The last few years Amy has been working for Adler & Allan as an Environmental Project Manager and a Process Scientist for South West Water with the monitoring and optimising of trade effluent wastewater processes, managing trade effluent consenting and involvement with pollution monitoring and mitigation.  Amy is also the Social Media Strategist for Blue Ocean Watch (Home – Blue Ocean Watch) who aim to educate, inform and inspire people about the ocean. 

Amy has a BSc Marine Conservation and Ecology degree and a Marine Science degree where bird and marine mammal’s surveys in Ireland were conducted.

Bronwyn Lee

Bronwyn has a background in marine biology, oceanography, and environmental sciences, with multiple years of experience in environmental consultancy. She is currently working as a Trainer and Consultant based in Southampton where she is delivering both training courses and emergency preparedness and response readiness services globally.

 

Bronwyn has a BSc. (Hons) in Marine Biology with Oceanography, and an MSc. in Environmental Pollution Control, both from the University of Southampton.

Chris Miles

Chris initially joined OSRL as a member of the Operations Department where he served as a Duty Manager. With over 15 years’ experience in the industry, Chris has led a number of large projects such as the implementation of Tier 2 services in the UK and West Africa, as well as taken secondments in Sakhalin, the Caspian and Brazil. As Principle Trainer, Chris helps to deliver our training courses globally and is often requested by clients to delivered their customised courses.

Dennis Peach

Dennis joined OSRL in 2003 after 23 years in the Royal Navy as a Marine Engineer. He is currently one of the EMEA Principal Trainers based in Southampton delivering a variety of accredited and client-tailored training courses as well as mentoring staff.

During his time with OSRL, he has attended incidents worldwide as a Spill Response Specialist, Technical Advisor, and In-Country Manager during standby operations. In 2010, he completed three operational tours to the Deepwater Horizon incident as SCAT Liaison in Louisiana and Florida and as an Infield Technical Specialist in Louisiana. He was also fortunate to spend 13 months as Base Supervisor to maintain the operational readiness of the Bahrain Response Base.

During his time in the training department, as well as delivering many training courses he has been integral in the development and implementation of an industry major’s Incident Management System training and the department's enhancement of their Online and Interactive training programs.

Edgar Gerasmia

Edgar has a background in Mechanical Engineering holding an undergraduate degree. He is currently a Senior Trainer and a Senior Oil Spill Response Specialist based in Singapore, providing emergency preparedness and response readiness services globally.

Edgar joined OSRL in mid-2007 as a Response Specialist based in Bahrain and is instrumental in the upkeep and maintenance of the base. His role included training local contractors, maintaining/commissioning of existing and new response equipment, logistics, and purchasing.

In 2010, Edgar joined the Singapore Operations and then moved to Training in 2013. As a Trainer, he delivered IMO Model courses, Inland, SCAT, Aerial Surveillance, ICS/IMS, Oil Spill Masterclass, and Oil Spill Awareness courses. These projects brought him to other countries in the Asia and Pacific region, such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, India, Papua New Guinea, Australia, New Zealand, Turkmenistan, Bahrain, Myanmar, and Pakistan.

Since joining the company, Edgar has been involved in spill activations and responses in the UK, Middle East, and Asia Pacific regions in different capacities. The most notable deployment was being a member of the SCAT team during the 2010 incident of the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico.

Elmer Emeric

Elmer Emeric

In addition to managing the Fort Lauderdale duty team, Elmer has facilitated numerous in-country Tier II capability reviews, led IMO II and IMS 100, 200, 220, 300, 401 training courses and led several exercises across the Americas and in Africa. He has participated in many Preparedness for Response Exercise Programs (PREP) exercising all components of a response plan with oil companies.

Before joining OSRL, Elmer served over 20 years as a U.S Coast Guard, retiring as a Commander and also worked as a civilian as Director of Puerto Rico Ports Authority, Professional Emergency Response Manager for BP America, and several for other Oil Spill organisations. As Coast Guard Officer, Elmer  managed many response missions to include oil & chemical mishaps, hurricane preparedness, Incident Command Post as well as ship and barge groundings/collisions/allisions.  Using the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ISC) Elmer provided required response functions, consistent with the U.S. National Response Framework and Area Contingency Plans, leading on 4 large ports such as Miami, FL; New York, New York; Houston, TX and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Elmer is respected among OSRL Members for his expertise and experience but also for the positive attitude he brings to those he works with.

Finn Hills

Finn Hills

Finn has a background in languages, holding a BA (Hons) in French, Portuguese, and Spanish. In August 2023 Finn transferred to the Training and Consultancy department as a Trainer and Consultant.

Finn initially joined OSRL as a Responder and has worked in various operational roles in major incidents across the world, including response efforts in Saudi Arabia, Gibraltar, and the UK. While in the Response department, Finn supported several various training and consultancy projects and spent a 6-month secondment with the Equipment Maintenance department.

Fiona Carson

Fiona Carson

Fiona has over 15 years of multidisciplinary experience in conducting environmental remediation projects and responding to environmental incidents in complex overseas environments, both in a domestic and industrial capacity.

She specialises in inland incidents, utilising her MSci in Geology and previous experience in the remediation industry. She was part of the OSRL Response Department for 9 years, including three years as a Duty Manager. Responding to numerous spills in locations such as the Bahamas, Dubai, Nigeria, Gabon as well as the UK North Sea.

Fiona has been with the training department since 2020, delivering high-quality preparedness deliverables such as numerous internationally recognised courses to global clients within the energy industry, local governments, and regulators. Subjects include Crisis Management, Incident Management, and accredited International Maritime Organisation (IMO) equivalent courses which provide the strategic knowledge to manage an oil spill response safely.

Hang Nee Chua

Hang Nee Chua

Hang Nee is a seasoned consultant and trainer with a remarkable eight-year journey of helping organisations establish and implement management systems in Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety (QEHS), business strategic development, and contingency plans.

Hang Nee is a registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) and Advanced Certified in Training and Assessment (ACTA) certified trainer in Singapore. She also successfully registered as a Professional Singapore Certified Management Consultant (PSCMC) in 2020.

Hang Nee's academic achievements include a degree in Environmental Sciences and Environmental, Occupational, Health & Safety (BEnvOSH), earned in 2012 and 2016, respectively. Her academic foundation serves as the bedrock for her practical industry knowledge.

She recently attended to a spill in Saudi covered aerial surveillance, shoreline survey, offshore deployment, and dispersant application. She also conducted customised IMS-specific role training in Brunei.

Ken Church

Ken Church

Ken joined OSRL in 2008 after serving 23 years in the Army as a Marine Engineer. Ken joined as a response specialist, responding to a variety of spills around the world, also spent 6 months in Saudi Arabia on secondment to Saudi Aramco, gaining valuable experience within one of our member organisations. He then took that experience into the training department and regularly led the delivery of a broad range of training courses.

After several years as a trainer, Ken rejoined response as a Team Leader and Duty Manager where he led teams responding to spills globally.

In 2017 Ken moved to our Aberdeen office where he concentrated on supporting our UK-based members. Ken and the team deliver training and act as TA’s for exercises and incidents. He also manages the Shetland Response base and the OSRL Fishing Vessel Service.

Ken holds a BEng in Mechanical engineering.

Lih Hern Yow

Lih Hern has a background in chemical engineering and is an experienced professional in emergency preparedness and crisis management, specialising in the field of oil spill incidents. He developed core skills in operational and technical aspects of oil spill response with participation in various spills and exercises globally, and through leadership position in various key functions (duty manager, logistics and asset management).

Started as an external secondment posting to ExxonMobil, Lih Hern gained exposure towards training delivery and response plan development. He took on the full role of consultant in 2018 when he was designated as the project manager for a high impact project, providing emergency and oil spill response to Ministry of Public Works and Transport in Laos. He continued to project manage other high-value long term projects such as capability building for the National Marine Safety Authority of Papua New Guinea and capability assessment for Marine Department of Brunei.

Lucy Bly

Lucy leads the OSRL Aberdeen team supporting UKCS Members with incident and exercise support, delivering training and providing specialist advice. Since commencing her career with OSRL, Lucy has responded to spills both in the UKCS and internationally, such as the Deepwater Horizon incident. Lucy also participates in industry workgroups hosted by IPIECA and OEUK, developing industry good practices.

Norman Ramos

Norman has more than 19 years combined experience in crisis and incident management, oil spill response and preparedness, including training. He has delivered and participated in incident management system (IMS) and crisis management training and exercises, respectively, within Asia-Pacific. He holds Expert Certification in Crisis Management.

Holding a Masters in Environmental Management from the National University of Singapore (NUS), his interests lie in the intersection of oiled wildlife preparedness and response and implementation of IMS in oil spill incidents. Furthermore, he is interested in developing and implementing large-scale exercises on incident and crisis management.

Prianda Ardhana

Prianda is a dedicated emergency preparedness and response / crisis management specialist with over 14 years of experience in both surface and subsea response and readiness. He is involved in various preparedness activities such as Capability Review, Oil Spill Contingency Plan (OSCP) development and delivers Oil Spill Response Training.

 

With a strong strategic and tactical response foundation, Prianda has responded to numerous oil spill incidents and actively participated in various internal and external oil spill exercises. In addition to that, Prianda is also recognized for his knowledge and expertise in project management.

Richard Cooper

Richard has a background in emergency response and crisis management, having worked in the Oil & Gas industry since 2014. He currently holds the role of Aberdeen Representative within OSRL, supporting response and preparedness activities, both as a trainer and technical advisor for member organisations operating in the UKCS.

Since joining OSRL in 2018, Richard has held roles both in Southampton and Aberdeen. He has responded to oil spill incidents globally, including in the UK, Congo, and the Bahamas . He has also supported numerous preparedness activities including the delivery of accredited OPEP, IMS/ICS, IMO and MCA training courses.

Richard has a BSc in Disaster Management and Emergency Planning from Coventry University.

Sim Kai Jing

Sim Kai Jing

Kai Jing holds an Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. She joined Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL) as a Spill Response Specialist and was involved in numerous client exercises, engagements, equipment maintenance, and oil spill incidents, assuming various positions in the Emergency Management Team and in-field activities.

Kai Jing is currently a Senior Trainer from the Training and Consultancy Department based in Singapore. She is experienced in managing and delivering many outstanding regional and global training projects in the past decade, both face-to-face and remote training – IMO Level 1, 2, and 3 Oil Spill Response, ICS/IMS, Crisis Management, and other customised training courses.

Kai Jing leads the annual OSRL Flexi-Trainer APAC course; coaching and mentoring, teaching the relevant skills to deliver training. She has also obtained the Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA) and is developing further on Crisis Communications.

Kai Jing has participated in the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Seminar, NOWPAP MERRAC Meeting, GI initiative sessions, and local and regional exercises to share knowledge with the industry as an OSRL representative. Her spill response experience includes a pipeline spill incident where she led as the Logistics Section Chief, vessel collision incidents in Singapore as the Planning Section Chief, Vessel Dispersant Operations Group, and Waste Management Group.

Shahreena Shahnavas

Shahreena Shahnavas

Shahreena is a Senior Consultant within OSRL based in Singapore and is responsible for the development and management of oil spill preparedness projects in the region. She has developed and delivered numerous projects including contingency plans, oil spill preparedness workshops, incident and crisis management training and exercises across Asia Pacific and African regions. During this time, she has worked closely with government agencies, national and international oil companies. 

Extending beyond the industry, Shahreena has recently led the development of an oil spill response plan for a windfarm operator in Taiwan.  

Prior to assuming her current role, she worked as a Spill Responder with OSRL attending a number of oil spill incidents in the region, gaining extensive field experience. 

Shahreena holds a joint Master of Science degree in Industrial Chemistry from the National University of Singapore and Technical University of Munich.

Tim Coombs

Tim Coombs

Tim joined OSRL with 22 years as a Marine Engineering Technician in the Royal Navy and is experienced in Gas Turbine Propulsion and Hydraulic Systems. Having completed 14 years as a Chief Petty Officer, he brings experience in engineering and leadership to the company. 

Since joining OSRL Tim has also been in the position of Workshop and Maintenance Supervisor and responded to spills in Australia, India, Gibraltar and the UK, as well as the 2010 Macondo incident in the Gulf of Mexico and more recently to Gabon, Africa as a Technical Advisor.

As a Principal Trainer Tim has delivered training in West and Central Africa, South America, Falkland Islands, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan (where he also responded to an incident), Germany, Holland, Gibraltar and the UK.

Tim holds the position of Chair for OSRL’s Incident Management System (IMS) Core Group which specialise in emergency management systems used around the globe and has delivered training in this subject to several of our members.
