Oil Spill Response is the world’s largest international oil spill preparedness and response organisation. We are currently actively looking to appoint dynamic, talented individuals to join our team as Spill Response Specialists. As part of the on-call Operations Team, you will be ready to respond to oil spill incidents anywhere in the world at short notice. Assisting with the clean-up of oil pollution, you must possess a practical aptitude, have the ability to problem solve combined with excellent communication skills and the willingness to travel globally.

Excellence is our primary focus; as such successful candidates will undergo an intensive 12 week induction programme, gaining a strong technical foundation in response strategies and techniques before embarking on gaining our industry accredited occupational standard programme.
As a motivated self-starter, you will be a highly adaptable person who thrives on multiple demands, shifting priorities and rapid changes. An Engineering or Earth / Marine Sciences degree or equivalent practical engineering experience is required. Foreign language skills, especially mother tongue speakers in French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Bahasa and Arabic will be an advantage.

Purpose of the job:
- To safely deliver efficient and effective spill response in accordance with the Service Level Agreement as a Duty Manager with a duty team; acting as a senior level interface with the mobilising party
- To take responsibility for the maintenance of the Singapore response function and to provide regional support to the Incident Commander (Readiness) UK.
Main accountabilities:
- On Call Duty Manager on a rotational basis
- Ensure operational activities are carried out within statutory and company requirements and with due regard to the health and safety of themselves, others arounf them and for the environment
- Manage the duty team to ensure:
- The correct mix within the team
- The personal development of team members
- The maintenance and readiness of designated equipment and other response resources
- Oversight and audit of Singapore maintenance and readiness including:
- Capital expenditure programme implementation
- Equipment maintenance
- Vessel maintenance
- Singapore base facilities
- IT vendor support
- Ensure consistent global application of all maintenance and readiness policies and procedures
- Effective management of delegated budgets for the above.
Working relationships and contracts
Internal:
- Head of Operations, Incident Command Managers and Duty Managers in all locations, Singapore Operations Manager, Operations Director, UK and Singapore Regional Directors, Duty Teams
External:
- Shareholders, Associate Members, third parties both in the event of a spill elsewhere. ITOPF, UK and overseas regulators, IPIECA, IMO
