Aviation updates for Asia Pacific

Oil Spill Response Limited - Aviation updates for Asia Pacific7 September 2012 |

OSRL is pleased to announce the conclusion of a new five-year aviation contract with International Air Response Inc. (IAR) that will see the US-based aviation company taking over the Hercules aircraft lease in Singapore with effect from 1st January 2013.

The move is part of a series of developments within OSRL’s Hercules replacement programme as the Company looks to enhance its aviation capability in line with changes in industry and regulatory expectations. Significant projects are also in the pipeline for the UK-based Tier 3 response and are expected to be delivered in the next two years. OSRL will provide updates on these developments as soon as they are available.

Under OSRL’s Service Level Agreement, Members in the Asia Pacific region will have access to a C-130 Hercules aircraft equipped with IAR’s proprietary RIDDS aerial dispersant system carrying a payload of 3,500 US gallons.

The integrated RIDDS System (Rapid Installation and Deployment Spray System) allows dispersants to be applied in varying spray patterns and spray rates that can be controlled from the cockpit and adjusted in flight. The C130 will be operated by IAR’s own experienced crews. Further improvements include the addition of a SpiderTrack live position update.

The IAR C-130 is expected to be based in Seletar Airport in Singapore, further updates will be provided on our website when these become available. Meanwhile the ADDS Pack will continue to be stored in Singapore and can be installed on another Hercules aircraft should additional aerial dispersant capability be needed.
