OSRL and our aviation partner Diamond-Executive Aviation (DEA) were recently involved in a helicopter rescue operation in the North Sea. Coordinated by the Aberdeen Coastguard, the multi-agency effort saw 14 survivors being rescued after their helicopter made a controlled ditch into the North Sea.
OSRL and DEA responded after receiving a call for help over the radio, mobilising the DA-42 aircraft to the scene. Upon sighting the life raft with the survivors onboard, we then communicated with the rescue helos and lifeboats that were enroute. We continued to maintain visual contact with the life raft until more help arrived to transport survivors safely back to Aberdeen.
